How to fix, Why is my Taskbar White

Why is my Taskbar White – Most computer users click on the Taskbar to gain access to apps that are used occasionally, services, view time, etc. It renders a helpful space used for swapping between apps that are already opened or starting new ones from the pinned icons with a click. Note that the Taskbar is constantly visible unless you choose to keep it hidden when it’s not active. But, with all this, it can be problematic when Taskbar unexpectedly turns white for no obvious reasons.

Follow these steps to fix Why is my Taskbar White

1: Try Changing Taskbar Setting

Using the mouse right-click on the Taskbar and choose Taskbar settings.

Now on the left sidebar tick the Colors tab. And on the right side, go to the bottom of the page until you detect the ‘Show accent color with the following surfaces’ heading, Start, taskbar, and action center option then uncheck each box.

Note: That the taskbar may have turned white because it has received an indication from the desktop wallpaper, which is also known as the accent color.

In that case, you can disable the accent colour option. To perform this action,

Go to ‘Choose your accent color‘ and uncheck the box that shows the ‘Automatically pick an accent color from my background‘ option.

Now go back to the desktop and check whether the Taskbar is still white or not. If it is, try the next step.

2: Try Using Windows 10 Dark Mode

To do this, go back to Taskbar settings like you did in the above step and click on Colors.
And check the Choose your color option to check if the chosen option is white.
From the drop-down menu, pick the Dark option.

The entire Taskbar and also the rest of the interface of the system will turn dark. These are the system themes. You can always change these settings later if you don’t like them.

Also If you wish your Taskbar to be in a dark theme but like the rest of the Windows menu in white, then select Custom from the same menu. There will be some extra options now.

Check and set Windows mode to Dark and Default app mode to Light. This will maintain the light or white mode around the Windows, but it will leave the Taskbar dark.

3: Change The Regional Settings

To perform this step

Select the Windows key+I to open Settings and click on Time & Language.
Choose Region from the sidebar options and then switch your region to a foreign country.
Now select the Start button and choose the profile picture to sign out of your Windows user account. Then sign back in and redo the steps stated above to change the region back to where you live.

4: Registry Editor

It is suggested that you backup the Registry Editor or the folder you want to amend before you move on. In case you don’t know how to go about the Registry Editor, I’ll propose you edit registry files to (Safe Mode) and restore the backup if there is a break on your Windows 10 computer.

Check for the Registry Editor in the Start menu, then run it with admin rights.
If you notice that the WhiteSearchBox folder is missing, you just have to create one. You are also required to create the key and then change its value, as shown in the above steps.
If it didn’t work, then you can delete the key and value.
And try to do a backup and restart the computer in Safe Mode before moving on to the next step. And always note down (where and what) changes you are making.

For you to create the new folder, right-click on the 0 folders under Flighting in the Registry Editor, and choose a New Key, and title it WhiteSearchBox.

Then go to the WhiteSearchBox folder, which is located on the right window-pane, right-click again to choose DWORD (32-bit) Value, and title it Value.

Next double-click on the value you just created on the right and ensure the Value data is 0 (zero) and then choose Hexadecimal as the Base. Thereafter, restart your computer once. , Cortana’s search box color and the Taskbar should be back to normal.

To Complete The Task

After the start menu, the Taskbar is one of the active and the most interacted areas on any Windows 10 computer. This is why it can be infuriating when the Taskbar turns white unexpectedly.

An additional way to fix this issue is to conceal the Taskbar entirely. Though this is not an exact solution since the Taskbar is still white, at least it won’t inconvenience you.
